UBPO hopeful of BKWAC bill getting passage in Assembly session

KOKRAJHAR: An executive committee meeting of the United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO) was held on Friday at Bodoland Guest House, Khanapara, Guwahati to discuss various issues. The meeting was chaired by its president Mihiniswar Basumatary.

Talking to this reporter, the general secretary of the UBPO, Anil Basumatary said that they discussed at length about the formation of Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) outside BTCfor the population of over 10 lakh. He said they were hopeful that the pending requisite bill for BKWAC would be passed by the Government of Assam in the ensuing State assembly session to be held from December 28 to December 30.

Basumatary said that the 7th annual conference of the UBPO had been scheduled to be held with a three-day colourful programme on February 5, February 6 and February 7 at Mithinga Nwgwr under Dhansri subdivision of Golaghat district. Sources said that Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, State Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and former Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary have given their consent to grace the occasion.
