TANGLA: All is not well in the Udalguri Deputy Commissioner's office after the outgoing Udalguri Deputy Commissioner Prakash Ranjan Gharphalia, who was under home quarantine, tested COVID-19 positive on Thursday.

In the latest turn of events, a total of 21 staff working at the DC bungalow, Udalguri, are presently quarantined inside the bungalow premises which has already been declared as containment zone while additionally, 13 DC office staff are presently quarantined in one quarantine centre of the district and awaiting their swab test reports while reportedly performing their office work from the quarantine centre.

The Udalguri district has reported a total of 150 cases where 113 have been discharged and 37 are active cases. Sources said a total of 10,666 samples were collected from various parts of Udalguri where 9,233 were reported negative and 1,433 reports are awaited. Meanwhile, a total of 3,056 people are under home quarantine in Udalguri while there are only two dedicated COVID-19 hospitals in the district with a capacity of 165 beds.
