Udalguri Police recovered three AK-56 rifles, 20 rounds of live ammunition of 7.62 mm calibre and three empty magazines

MANGALDAI/UDALGURI: Udalguri Police recovered three AK-56 rifles, 20 rounds of live ammunition of 7.62 mm calibre and three empty magazines. Acting on a tip-off, police carried out a search operation on Monday midnight at a remote village Deosani under Mazbat Police Station. The arms and ammunition were kept concealed beneath the river dam of River Pagla. Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ) Bidyut Das Boro, assisted by Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) Moidul Islam, Officer in-charge of Mazbat Police Station, Sub-Inspector Raja Irshad and Officer in-charge of Rowta Police Station, Sub-Inspector Hemanta Baruah recovered the sophisticated arms and ammunition.

Till date Udalguri Police have successfully recovered a total of 12 AK series rifles, one Rocket Propelled Gun (RPG), one highly sophisticated M16 Rifle and one HK 33 rifle, SLR4 number of foreign-made pistols, 42 grenades, 111 detonator wires, 5 HE bombs along with 350 live ammunition from various locations of the district.
