ULFA (I) cadre surrenders before Dibrugarh police and returns to mainstream

A ULFA (I) cadre was surrendered before Dibrugarh police on Wednesday.

DIBRUGARH: A ULFA (I) cadre was surrendered before Dibrugarh police on Wednesday. The cadre has been identified as Bikramjit Chetia alias Bikram Gogoi alias Ranjit Asom who deserted the ULFA camp and surrendered before Dibrugarh police. A team of Chabua police went near the Assam-Arunachal border in the Tinsukia district and brought the cadre to Dibrugarh. Bikram Gogoi is a resident of Chabua, Dibrugarh and he joined ULFA(I) in 2019. Since then he was in the ULFA (I) camp at Myanmar.

Dibrugarh Superintendent of Police Shwetank Mishra said, “Bikram Gogoi’s family members contacted us that he wanted to return to home. We sent a police team from Chabua to bring him back. He was brought back to Dibrugarh and we have started our interrogation. We have sent the papers of his surrender to Guwahati police headquarters for approval.” “We don’t know why he return from the ULFA (I) camp. We have started our interrogation. As of now, we cannot divulge more details,” said Mishra.
