ULFA (I) leader nabbed by Indian army and Tinsukia police

TINSUKIA: In a swift and well-planned joint operation executed by the Indian army and Tinsukia police on Thursday night at Pengree under Tinsukia district, another key ULFA (I) leader - self-styled second lieutenant PrantikAsom alias Puna Gogoi (40) - was apprehended along with weapon, ammunition and war-like stores. The operation was based on confirmed intelligence input which was a result of relentless pursuit over the last few months.

The apprehended cadre was not only the chief of logistics and administration as well as member of the think tank of one of the operational camps of ULFA(I) in Myanmar, but also a close aide to their leader – self-styled lieutenant colonel ArunodhoyAsom. The apprehended insurgent and recovered items were handed over to Tinsukia Police for further investigation.
