Unemployed youths given scientific goat farming training in Haflong

On completion of the two-day training on scientific goat farming, as many as 20 unemployed young trainees

HAFLONG: On completion of the two-day training on scientific goat farming, as many as 20 unemployed young trainees were accorded certificate in a simple but solemn valedictory function on Tuesday.

The training programme was organized by the District Veterinary Officer in assistance with Hills Live and was attended by L Z Nampui, Secretary, NC Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), Dr J. Gogoi, Additional Director, in-charge Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Dr B. Kakati, District Veterinary Officer, and others.

Altogether 20 participants from Jatinga, Gunjung, Diyungbra and other places took part in the training where Dr Amit Phonglo, Dr Hancy Dibragede and Dr Titus Thiek were the resource persons.

During the training, Artificial Insemination (AI) kits were distributed to at least seven MAITRI who had received training in this skill at Silchar for three months. Total 15 unemployed youths have been given training in AI under MAITRI scheme, out of which 7 AI kits containing AI gun, tri can (a container in which semen is kept in frozen liquid nitrogen) apron, gum boots, rain coat, cap and backpack, were handed over to the trainees for field activity.

District Veterinary Officer Dr Bhairab Kakati expressed his satisfaction over the eagerness of the young trainees to be self-employed through farming. He hoped that these trainees would definitely help to develop the economy in the rural sector provided they adopt goat farming as their targeted project.
