Dr Tulika Goswami, from AMCH, focused on the scenario of malnutrition among children in Assam, adding that the NHFS-5 (National Health and Family Survey) showed that 35.3 per cent of children across Assam are stunted; and 21.7 per cent of the children in the State suffer from major long-term problems. Such issues should be tackled at the early stage of the children, added Dr Goswami.

Dr Jayanta Kr Sarma dwelt on the future of media, and the career prospects of working journalists — including the avenues offered by the KKHSOU, besides the crucial role that the media in general can play in protecting the interest of the children as well as the society. Altogether six such workshops are being planned at Dhemaji, Bongaigoan, Goalpara, Silchar and Hailakandi in the next few weeks.
