Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visits pottery artisans in Dibrugarh

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday spent time with pottery artisans in Dibrugarh on the eve of Diwali and bought earthen lamps from the artisans.

DIBRUGARH: Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday spent time with pottery artisans in Dibrugarh on the eve of Diwali and bought earthen lamps from the artisans.

Joining the Vocal for Local Movement, Sarbananda Sonowal appealed to the people to buy earthen lamps for Diwali. Sarbananda Sonowal was seen spending time with the artisans of Kacharighat in Dibrugarh.

Sonowal spinned the wheel and urged everyone to light up their homes with earthen lamps during Diwali. A pottery family has been living at Kacharighat in Dibrugarh for last several years and they are the third generation to carry on the family business.

While talking to ‘The Sentinel’, Ratan Pandit, third generation potter of their family said, “We are very happy today because Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visited us and purchased earthen lamps from us.” “This time we are doing a brisk business and people are coming to us to purchase earthen lamps,” said Ratan.
