Dibrugarh: Union Minister of State, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Labour & Employment, Rameswar Teli, inaugurated the roundabout being constructed by Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) at the cost of Rs 17 lakh on National Highway 37 near BCPL plant on Friday.

The inaugural function was graced by Reep Hazarika, Managing Director BCPL, Prasanta Phukan, MLA Dibrugarh, Chakra Gogoi, MLA Moran, Rituparna Baruah, Indra Gogoi, Chairman AGCL, senior officials of BCPL and residents of Barbaruah.

The monument of the roundabout comprises a pair of Brahmaputra River Dolphins engulfing the rings of prosperity and development, resting on the logo of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited, symbolizing BCPL's aspirations to flourish through prosperity and development of the region. The pair of leaves and a bud with a couple of White Winged ducks (Asarcornis Scutulata)-the state bird of Assam- flying across, throws light on the historical significance of the tea city of Dibrugarh, nestled in the southern bank of the Brahmaputra. This entire sculpture rests on a boat- the lifeline across the mighty Brahmaputra since ages together uniting Assam's demography despite social and cultural diversity. During the inauguration, Superintendent of Police of Dibrugarh was also present.
