TINSUKIA: Universal Brotherhood Day was celebrated at Krishti Sangha, Chapakhowa (Sadiya) under the aegis of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Sadiya. The day is observed to commemorate Swami Vivekananda's famous speech delivered on September 11,1893 in Chicago to the delegates of the World Parliament of Religions.

The programme began with a beautiful 'Prabhat Pheri' where students with cultural attire from the host school and other schools participated. A band troupe also marched in the procession. Thereafter the mass gathered at Krishti Sangha to witness the cultural programme which started with Mangalacharan, followed by felicitation of the guests and welcome address by Kishore Chandra Maharana Principal VKV. A patriotic song was performed by a group of students. A Guru Vandana was also performed by VKV student Rajnandini Chiring and Chicago Address was delivered by Juvaraaj Chiring.

The significance of the day was delivered by Sahadev Mahato, Jugabala Buragohain, Bisandrawati Sonowal. The school earlier conducted few competitions like Chicago Address, drawing, quiz etc the prizes of which were distributed on the occasion.
