Unruly behaviour alleged by Lakhimpur MLA towards flood-affected person

LAKHIMPUR: Mixed reaction prevailed in Lakhimpur after the spread of news that the Lakhimpur MLA Utpal Dutta showed unruly behaviour with a flood-affected person under Ghunasuti area. It is alleged that the MLA told the person that he would slap him for complaining about the potable water problem and irregularity in the supply and installation of tube wells at flood-affected Balibheta village in the Ghunasuti area. Notably, the MLA visited the village to take stock of the flood situation on August 2 and the incident took place on that day. The news in this regard was published on Friday.

Regarding the issue, the State president of Anti-Corruption Youth Power, Assam (ACYPA) Dharma Kanta Gogoi filed an FIR against the MLA at North Lakhimpur Police Station on Sunday. In the FIR, the ACYPA State president raised a complaint that the MLA concerned violated the law while reacting to the issue. MLA Utpal Dutta said that the person concerned also showed unruly behaviour while he argued with him alleging irregularity with regard to installation of tube wells supplied for the flood-affected people of the village.
