KOKRAJHAR: The president of the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) Pramod Boro on Wednesday claimed that his party along with the combined force of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Gana Suraksha Party (GSP) would clinch all 12 seats in BTR. He rejected the claim of Bodoland People's Front (BPF) supremo Hagrama Mohilary that the Grand Alliance would capture the seats of BTR.

Talking to media persons at Thulungapuri in Dotma, Boro said that the BPF was going to lose all seats in BTR and the people of the region had already rejected the BPF due to its indulgence in corruption, domination and misrule. The Mahajoot (Grand Alliance) of Congress, BPF, AIUDF and others would not be able to fight with the UPPL as it was getting support from every community in the region, he said. He also said that all candidates of UPPL and BJP would win in the third phase of assembly election slated to be held on April 6.

On the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Kokrajhar on Thursday, Boro said that it was of great significance that the Prime Minister of the country had given importance to BTR region. Welcoming Modi, Boro said that the people of BTR would see fast-paced development under the BJP-led government at the Centre and the State. He also hoped that all the clauses of BTR Accord would be implemented as soon as possible in letter and spirit. He further said that the BPF-led government in BTC could not fulfil people's expectations in the last 17 years but the present government was trying its best to fulfil its commitment and had worked out new strategy within the last two months.
