UPPL candidate Jiron Basumatary wins from Gossaigaon

UPPL candidate (United People’s Party Liberal) Jiron Basumatary has won from 28-Gossaigaon constituency in the bye- elections defeating his rival Congress candidate.

KOKRAJHAR: UPPL candidate (United People's Party Liberal) Jiron Basumatary has won from 28-Gossaigaon constituency in the bye- elections defeating his rival Congress candidate. Basumatary got 58,769 votes while Congress candidate Juwel Tudu got 30,517 votes. The candidate of BPF Dhruba Kr. Brahma got 20,435 votes. The opposition parties lost the seat as they had split from Mahajot and fielded their own candidates.

Talking to mediapersons, the candidate of UPPL Jiron Basumatary said he will work for the people to fulfil promises of the party. He said the UPPL had been against corruption and misrule. He also ensured that he will work for the development of society. Basumatary, who was former MCLA of BTC was the former general secretary of the ABSU and has been playing a crucial role for the UPPL.
