KOKRAJHAR: Sensation prevailed following the attack on the convoy of United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) chief Promod Boro on Wednesday evening at Nayekgaon under Kokrajhar PS, around 12 km east of Kokrajhar, when he was on his way to Kokrajhar from Chirang at around 5.45 pm. Four vehicles, including his bullet-proof vehicle provided by the police administration, were damaged in the attack by miscreants. The driver of PromodBoro's vehicle sustained injuries in the attack.
UPPL president Promod Boro, while talking to media persons, said that he was coming to Kokrajhar when Bodoland People's Front (BPF) supporters allegedly pelted stones at their vehicles and damaged the vehicles. He said that he prevented his PSO and security convoy from opening fire or retaliating. He strongly condemned the incident and urged the district administration to take prompt action on the attackers.
On the other hand, the vehicle of UPPL candidate from Baokhungri constituency, Pratibha Brahma was also attacked by suspected supporters of BPF at Tintila under Kokrajhar PS at around 4.30 pm when she was returning from visiting her constituency. Though no one was injured, her vehicle was badly damaged. FIRs on both the incidents were lodged at Kokrajhar PS on Wednesday evening.
Former Rajya Sabha MP and founder of UPPL, UG Brahma strongly condemned both the incidents.
