KOKRAJHAR: The COVID vaccination drive for persons above 18 years to 44 years started in Kokrajhar along with other parts of the State on Friday. The vaccination for people above 18 years of age was done at Government HS&MP School, Kokrajhar where 100 newly-registered persons were given vaccine. Most of the people who took the first dose of vaccine expressed happiness.
Talking to this correspondent, ShreyasiShome, daughter of MK Shome, proprietor of Bodoland News Paper Agency, Kokrajhar said that the spread of coronavirus had taken an ugly turn in the State and Kokrajhar was also witnessing the increasing trend of positive cases. She said that she felt safe and secure after getting the first dose of COVID vaccine today. She, however, appealed to all to maintain social distancing, using face masks and sanitizer and to remain indoors if there is no important work outdoors.
Meanwhile, Kokrajhar district recorded six fatalities in the second wave of COVID+19 pandemic. On Thursday, 74 new cases were detected in the district. The total active cases in Kokrajhar rose to 189. The positive cases are increasing in the district. In Chirang district too, there were four new cases on Friday at JwhwlaoSwmblaBasumatary Memorial Civil Hospital, Kajalgaon, taking the number of positive cases to 380 till today.
