Vehicles seized during first day of two-week Dima Hasao lockdown

HAFLONG: As many as 13 vehicles, including two wheelers, were seized by the Dima Hasao Police on the first day of the two-week lockdown while a total fine of Rs. 12,500 was collected on a single day. This came into force after an order was issued by the Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman of DDMA, Dima Hasao, Paul Barua, clearly stating the guidelines of activities exempted and prohibited during the lockdown till July 19. According to the order, all public and private vehicles are prohibited from plying on road unless approved by the district administration on emergencies.

In this connection, the district administration also released a list with names of grocery shops in Haflong town that will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the two-week lockdown. The authority is also preparing inclusion of more number of shops from suburban localities for the convenience of the people and to avoid gatherings in the market. Same is also being worked out for various other places within the district.
