DHUBRI: In order to boost the standard and quality of education in Dhubri district, a Virtual Field Support (VFS) centre was formally inaugurated by Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani on Monday.
This is the first time in Assam that such a system has been installed and it will be operated by Piramal Foundation in coordination with the education department and with active support from the Dhubri district administration, aiming to improve the quality of education in 2018 schools of which 35 percent are located in riverine char areas of the district. This is seen as a huge boost for improving the quality of primary education in the district.
Speaking in the meeting at the centre, Dhubri Deputy Commissioner said that VFS was a technology-based platform of Piramal Foundation which could connect with the teachers and Headmasters, CRCCs, community volunteers and all the important stakeholders over the phone and through other virtual media and help them by sharing the education materials, resources, video learning materials and audio learning materials with them so that it could ultimately improve the Student Learning Outcome of the district.
“The techno-based monitoring will help to improve SLO (Student Learning Outcome) and to transform the primary education level in Dhubri district. Moreover, the Piramal Foundation will also focus on women empowerment and hence VFS also aims to provide income opportunities to local women. There are 13 women associates in VFS led by one programme leader, Harish Kumar,” Gyani added.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rahul Jhavir, Dhubri District Manager of Piramal Foundation, Udai Singh Chundawat, and Inspector of Schools Sanju Jadav were also present during the inauguration.
