GUWAHATI: The Goalpara Drug Inspector's office has been raided on Tuesday by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Squad.
According to the sources, the police have detained two of the office's employees. The arrested staff had requested Rs 19,000 for a pharmacy licence, which was discovered after an extensive investigation.
Mohibul Islam, a pharmacist, was asked for the money by the individuals. The detectives captured both of the employees in the act of accepting the bribe while acting undercover.
The employees has been identified as Dipjit Sarkar, who works in fourth grade, and Ansaar Ali, who works in third grade. They have each taken an advance payment of Rs. 4000.
The Lat Mandal of the South Salmara Revenue Circle in Assam has also been detained for receiving bribes. Abu Taleb Miah has been recognised as the defendant.
On Wednesday, Assam's Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Cell officials caught him red-handed and took him into custody. According to sources, he had asked the complainant for Rs 13,000 in relation to the land mutation.
In the most recent instance of fraud to be reported from the grounds of Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH), a regular employee of the Cardiothoracic and Neuroscience Center was caught in the act by the caretaker of an ICU patient on Friday morning while attempting to coercively sell him expired medications.
The con artist, Dipu Das, a resident of Boripara in Guwahati's Maligaon neighbourhood, attempted to sell 1,000 rupees' worth of medications from the trunk of his car.
According to the information obtained, the GMCH administration quickly suspended the imposter from his position as a result of a written complaint from the victim. Along with that, an FIR has been launched in the Bhangagarh police station.
Abhijit Sarma, the superintendent of the GMCH, stated in a statement to the media, "The accused was detected engaging in the malpractice, and as a result, he was suspended with immediate effect."
