Vigilance Awareness Week kicks off at Bongaigaon Refinery

Bongaigaon: With the objective to renew and re-affirm the commitment to achieve the goal of promoting integrity, honesty and transparency among the employees of Bongaigaon Refinery, Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW)-2020 was flagged off on Tuesday by administrating the integrity pledge.

The pledge was administered in English by SP Baruah , Chief General Manager and Refinery Head, in Hindi and Assamese by Kailash Pati, Chief General Manager (Projects), and Debojit Gogoi Chief General Manager (Technical) respectively to BGRians.

Adhering to the social distancing norms, the number of in-person participants was restricted to around 10 while others joined the event on virtual mode. Speaking on the occasion, S P Baruah said that honesty and integrity were the foundation of good leadership. "This is true in both professional and personal lives. Fairness and transparency are the hallmarks of good and successful organizations and the Vigilance Awareness Week plays an important role in promoting greater efficiency, transparency and accountability by increasing awareness about policies and vigilance guidelines amongst the employees and stake-holders of any public organization. Vigilance is the conscience keeper of the organization," he said.

While delivering the welcome address, BB Brahma, GM (V), said that corruption could not be rooted out by the vigilance department alone but each and every employee of the organization had to participate in curbing corruption, malpractices and misuse. "Being fully responsible and accountable for your roles, never losing sight of transparency and compliances is part of honest work," he added.

He briefed about various activities to be organized in line with the theme of 'Vigilant India, Prosperous India' for internal and external stakeholders in order to spread awareness among the employees, students and common public during Vigilance Awareness Week while following the COVID-19 guidelines.
