LAKHIMPUR: In connection with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Vigilance Awareness Week has been observed across the nation since October 31 to November 5. In Lakhimpur district too, the Assam Gramin Vikas Bank has also observed the initiative by conducting various programmes. In this connection, the bank organized swearing-in-ceremony, awareness programmes at various levels, essay writing and quiz contests among the students in the district. As a part of these activities, the bank took out an awareness rally in North Lakhimpur town from its zonal office.
Attending the event, Regional Manager Pankaj Kumar Palit said that the rally was initiated to take the message of importance of living and progressing honestly by being away from all kinds of corruption to all spheres of the society.
Lead Bank Manager Madhav Saikia, NABARD-Lakhimpur district Development Manager Amlan Ranjan Tamuli, retired Senior Manager Uma Sankar Saikia, RSETI Lakhimpur district Director Bijit Borah, AGVB Lakhimpur and Nakari Branch Managers Ajanta Hazarika and Utpal Bhattacharya also took part in the awareness rally. Notably, Vigilance Awareness Week is one of the tools of the Central Vigilance Commission in increasing public awareness about the perils of corruption. The Vigilance Awareness Week is observed every year during the week in which the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (October 31) falls in. This year the Vigilance Awareness Week has been observed by focusing on a theme - “Say no to corruption; commit to the Nation.”
