TINSUKIA: Inspired by a unified struggle against CAA, local villagers of Borhapjan, a semi-rural township under Doomdooma revenue circle in Tinsukia district, began a unique trend by selling their garden produce in roadside stalls near Hanuman Mandir.
These villagers have been selling vegetables, fish, and poultry items at reasonable prices. A gamosa symbolizing Assamese entity and a protest against CAA is displayed in front of every erected stall. A leading citizen of Doomdooma and also a senior journalist, Anuj Kalta said traditional home-grown vegetable always had good demand and would draw good buyers not only from Borhapjan but also from far-flung areas. The market should flourish with a continuous flow of goods, he said. More women should be encouraged to join such type of venture for economic uplift, Kalita opined.
