Visiting Professor delivers lecture series at Assam Agricultural University

Professor Brahma Deo Singh, former Rector and Professor Emeritus, Banaras Hindu University, and noted writer of a series of famous textbooks in Plant Breeding, Genetics and Biotechnology, delivered a series of lecture as visiting professor to AAU

BISWANATH CHARIALI: Professor Brahma Deo Singh, former Rector and Professor Emeritus, Banaras Hindu University, and noted writer of a series of famous textbooks in Plant Breeding, Genetics and Biotechnology, delivered a series of lecture as visiting professor to Assam Agricultural University (AAU) students in online mode. It was held under the National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP), AAU.

The programme was coordinated by the Course Director, Dr MK Sarma, Professor and Coordinator, Biotech Hub, BN College of Agriculture, Biswanath Chariali, under supervision of Dr KK Sarma, Project Head, NAHEP and Professor and Head, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, AAU, Jorhat. The lecture series was the first of its kind for AAU, which comprised of topics of recent developments in the areas of Plant Breeding, Genetics and Biotechnology.

The series of lectures started with an introductory session which was chaired by Dean Faculty of Agriculture, Dr J Deka, in the presence of Dr RN Barman, Associate Dean, BNCA, Dr R Sarma, Associate Dean, SCS College of Agriculture, Bahalpur, Dhubri and several faculty members along with students of AAU. The programme ended with a valedictory session and delivery of the 16th lecture of the series on July 27. The valedictory session was chaired by Dr J Deka, Dean, FA, AAU. Dr P K Pathak, Director Extension, AAU, was present as chief guest in the session.
