Voice of Bihari, Assam demands government donation for Chhath Puja

KOKRAJHAR: The Voice of Bihari, Assam has demanded government donations during the celebration of Chhath Puja in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) in line with the Government of Assam giving financial aid to Durga Puja and Bihu committees in Assam.

At a press meet held at Kokrajhar Press Club, the president of Voice of Bihari, Assam Ram Naresh Prasad said the Government of Assam and the BTC government should initiate steps for the official donation of Rs 50,000 to every Chhath Puja committee just as the Assam Government donated to every Durga Puja and Bihu committee. He appealed to the ministers, MLAs and MCLAs of Assam and BTC to give donations to Chhath Puja committees. He also demanded that the governments of Assam and BTC should repair the Chhath Puja ghat and construct a permanent latrine, bathroom, and dress changing room at the Chhath Puja ghats. He further called upon every Chhath Puja committee to use Assamese language along with Hindi in the banners of Chhat Puja in Assam and Bodo language with Hindi in BTR.

The president of Voice of Bihari, Assam said the Government of Assam should fulfil their demands before the 2024 Lok Sabha election. He also demanded that the government should look into the genuine demands of the Bihari community in Assam.
