Guwahati: Much to the relief of many, the weekend lockdown which was there for several weeks, has now been lifted.
Assam Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna has informed this through a Twitter message. He has, however, requested everyone to follow all COVID protocols like wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing to oneself and others safe from COVID.
The move comes amid Guwahati recording over 500 cases a day. The city recorded almost 1000 cases on Wednesday and 700 on Thursday, state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said addressing a press conference earlier in the day. He further said that 3000 cases are being reported daily.
