Widespread protest against farm bills in Demow, Jamugurihat & Doomdooma

DEMOW: The Demow Regional Students' Union burnt copies of the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 and the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 in front of the office of Demow Regional Students' Union in Demow Hari Pora Road on Friday in protest against the government's 'anti-farmer' policies.

The activists of Demow Regional Students' Union should various slogans against the BJP. In the programme, AASU leaders Aditya Sarma, Gautam Borah and others were present.

JAMUGURIHAT: The All Jamuguri Students' Union also burnt the copies of the three farm bills at Jamugurihat on NH-15 road on Friday. The student activists shouted slogans against the BJP government and demanded to scrap the the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020. They termed the bills as 'anti-farmer'. Dhurjat Goswami, president of All Jamugurihat Students' Union, vice-president Bharat Nath and other leaders took part in the protest.

DOOMDOOMA: The effigy of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was burnt by All Assam Students' Union (AASU), Doomdooma Regional Committee in front of the ASTC premises on Friday in protest against the farm bills. Shutters were downed as Lachit Sena activists swung into action to protest against the the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020, and the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020. The police arrested many activists.
