BAKSA: A wild elephant was electrocuted at Dawraijhar village near Bogamati picnic spot along the Indo-Bhutan Border in the district of Baksa.

In search of food, a herd of wild elephants ventured out of the Bornodi Forest Reserve of Baksa and strayed towards the nearby villages. According to local people, it is suspected that at night a wild elephant separated from the herd and entered the village Dawraijhar and created terror. A team of Nagrijuli police led by ASI Prafull Brahma and a team of forest officials rushed to the spot and recovered the carcass. Later, forest officials arranged for the post-mortem of the wild elephant and buried it. Police and forest officials are investigating the matter for more information.
