TANGLA: In yet another incident of elephant death, a 45-day-old wild jumbo which purportedly got separated from the herd and fell into a marshy area was found dead near Hattigorh T.E along the Indo-Bhutan border in Udalguri district of Assam on Sunday.

"The villagers witnessed the jumbo on Wednesday morning and informed us later we retrieved the body," said a forest official.

"We suspect that the jumbo while moving with the herd got stuck in the marshy area," said a local nature activist Subit Sawra. The site of the incident neighbours Nonai Forest reserve forest bordering Indo-Bhutan about 30 kms from district headquarter, Udalguri.
