TANGLA: The man-elephant continues to haunt the Indo-Bhutan border villages of the Bodo belt. In yet another incident, Maya Rani Das (90) was trampled to death by a wild jumbo at No. 1 Borengajuli near Nalapar in Udalguri district on Thursday night. According to reports, wild jumbos which descended from the neighbouring Indo-Bhutan hills charged at her and she immediately succumbed to her injuries. "Wild jumbos have unleashed a reign of terror in the region, forcing villagers to spend sleepless nights. But the forest department authorities has not adopted any measures to curb the menace," alleged wildlife activist Nabajyoti Baruah.
