Wild jumbos terrorize residents in Numaligarh

GOLAGHAT: Human elephant conflict in several parts of Golaghat District has become almost a common phenomenon nowadays. Numaligarh, Marangi, Doigrung are some of the places in Golaghat where groups of wild elephants attack people and destroy houses and crops most often. On Tuesday night at Rongbong area under Numaligarh PS, a large group of wild jumbos damaged several houses and severely injured one person named Puheswar Das. Soon he was rushed to VKNRL Hospital. Later he was referred to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition. Local people have raised allegations against the Forest Department officials and stated that they did not take quick action after receiving the information of the incident.
