KOKRAJHAR: Executive Member of Forest, BTC, Ranjit Basumatary on Tuesday made it clear that there would be no compromise on eviction against fresh illegal encroachers in reserve forests in BTC but the drive against encroachers would continue. Talking to media persons in Patgaon on Tuesday, Basumatary said that as many as nine eviction drives were carried out in the last couple of days and this drive would continue. He said there would be no excuse and compromise against the illegal encroachers in reserve forests for the sake of easing global warming. He said the department had already collected data of fresh encroachments in reserve forest.

Replying to questions, Basumatary said there were many reports of grabbing of forest lands in the Saralpara area along the Indo-Bhutan border in the Kokrajhar district. He said eviction drive would be carried out very soon in Saralpara and Ultapani forest.
