Will preserve contributions of great Bodo harbingers: BTC chief

The Dularai Boro Harimu Afad (DBHA) observed the 97th birth anniversary of Ostad Kamini Kr. Narzary, a harbinger of Bodo culture at Bodofa Cultural Complex, Kokrajhar with a day-long programme on Thursday.

KOKRAJHAR: The Dularai Boro Harimu Afad (DBHA) observed the 97th birth anniversary of Ostad Kamini Kr. Narzary, a harbinger of Bodo culture at Bodofa Cultural Complex, Kokrajhar with a day-long programme on Thursday.

As part of the programme, the president of DBHA Bijuel Nelson Daimary hoisted the flag of the organization while Kumari Narzary, wife of late Kamini Kr. Narzary offered a rich floral tribute at the portrait of her husband. A memorial lecture was also held on the topic, “Contributions of Ostad Kamini Kr. Narzary in the field of Bodo culture” which was chaired by Rahendra Nath Brahma, advisor of DBHA and renowned film director and lyricist. The memorial lecture was inaugurated by the president of the ABSU Dipen Boro.

Addressing before the gathering as the chief guest, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTC Pramod Boro said some great Bodo legends were born from time to time during critical times among the Bodos who worked hard to lead the society in the right direction. “Ostad Kamini Kr. Narzary was one of the great Bodo legends who had vast contributions in the field of Bodo culture,” he said adding that Narzary was a harbinger of the Bodo culture. He said the hard work and contributions of great Bodo legends will give the right direction to the upcoming generations to go ahead with its distinct identity. He also said the great Bodo legends that have outstanding contributions to the society should always be remembered by one and all. He thanked the DBHA for organizing the birth anniversary of a great cultural genius. He further said the government of BTC will take the initiative to preserve the contributions of great Bodo harbingers.

The open lecture was addressed by Hiracharan Narzinary of West Bengal, Tamrapatra award winner and president of World Bodo Historical Society, Dr. Prasanna Gogoi, Sangeet Natak award winner and Director of Cultural Centre, NE Zone, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of India and Ghanashyam Basumatary, social worker as resource persons while Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary addressed the gathering as the special guest. Besides, the programme was also attended by Dr. Surath Narzary, president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), MLA Lawrence Islary, principal of Kokrajhar Girls’ College Dr. Adaram Basumatary and others as guests of honour.
