BOKAJAN: Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma who is on a tumultuous visit to poll-bound Karbi Anglong district is addressing a series of public meetings every day to drum up support for the BJP candidates in the forthcoming KAAC Election, 2022. The Chief Minister, who was on a five-day visit to the district had address a total of 19 public meetings covering all 26 constituencies of poll-bound Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts.
The Chief Minister arrived in the poll-bound district on Monday and addressed three public meetings at Birsingki, Rongmongve and Sarhiajan covering Chingthong, Socheng Denta, Sarupathar and Bokajan constituencies. On Wednesday, the Chief Minister addressed four public gatherings in Baithalangso, Chowkihola, Kheroni and Bakalia covering Socheng, Rongkhang, Duar-Amla, Nilip, Kopili, Langpher and Singhason MAC constituencies.
On Thursday, the Chief Minister addressed four election rally in Dengaon, Hamren, Dhansiri and Beliguri covering Nomati, Mahamaya, Hamren, Amreng, Dhansiri and Howraghat MAC constituencies. On Friday, the Chief Minister addressed four public gatherings in Ziri Kendeng, Dentaghat, Hidipi and Santipur covering Amreng, Korkanthi, Borjan and Deopani MAC constituencies. On Saturday, the Chief Minister ended his election campaign in Karbi Anglong after addressing four public gatherings at Deithor, Dongkamukam, Tarabasa and Diphu covering Duar-Bagori, Rongkhang, Hamren, Bithung Rengthama, Phuloni and Lumbajong MAC Constituencies.
Addressing an election rally at Hangjanglangso Sports Association Playground under Bokajan MAC constituency, the Chief Minister assured the local people of solving the land patta issue which has remained a long pending aspiration of the non-tribal people residing in Bokajan Constituency. The Chief Minister also stated that Bokajan would soon be declared a district and promised better road connectivity and all possible help for developing the region's economy.
The Chief Minister also vowed to transform the Karbi Anglong district into one of the top districts in India and requested everyone to vote in favour of BJP in the ensuing polls of June 8. Drawing a contrast with the State of Nagaland, the Chief Minister said, "There is no medical college in Nagaland but we have one in Karbi Anglong. Similarly, Nagaland doesn't have a cancer hospital till date but a cancer hospital is under construction in Diphu. We'll have a veterinary college and an agriculture university in Karbi Anglong soon."
BJP State President Bhavesh Kalita, Minister Pijush Hazarika, Parimal Suklabaidya, Jogen Mohan, Bimal Bora, Sanjoy Kishan, MP Topon Gogoi and several other MLAs are camping in Karbi Anglong to boost the prospects of the BJP candidates in the forthcoming elections to KAAC.
In the six MAC constituencies under Bokajan LA Constituency, BJP seems to have an upper hand over other political parties in three constituencies. However, a tough contest is expected in the Sarupathar, Nilip and Borjan MAC constituency under Bokajan LAC where several heavy weight candidates of both regional and national political parties are in fray.
In the Sarupathar constituency, independent candidate and former KSA President Simeon Rongphar and INC candidate Satro Teron has pushed BJP into troubled waters. As per ground reports, the former BJP MAC of Sarupathar constituency Jagat Sing Engti, who was denied party ticket has sided with the independent candidate Simeon Rongphar which may potentially upset the calculation of BJP in this constituency.
