Woman's body recovered near Bismuri in Kokrajhar; murder suspected

A woman aged about 50 years, who was an employee of the Sericulture department, was allegedly brutally murdered

KOKRAJHAR: A woman aged about 50 years, who was an employee of the Sericulture department, was allegedly brutally murdered on Tuesday evening and her body was recovered from Raijamfwi near Bismuri under Kokrajhar PS on Wednesday.

The woman was identified as Pomila Narzary of Nepalpara village in Serfanguri. Sources said a khukri was also recovered from the incident site and it is suspected that she was killed with it.

A mother of three children, Pomila used to travel by private vehicle daily to her office. Her son said that she went to office on Tuesday in a private vehicle but did not return home that day. He said that sometimes his mother would stay at her friend's place if she got late and that day they thought that she had spent the night at her friend's house. But early Wednesday morning, her body was recovered at Raijamfwi. State Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma rushed to the spot on Wednesday and condemned the incident. She said everything would come out after the post-mortem report. She asked the district administration to nab the culprit as early as possible. Though no one has been arrested in this connection, police assured that the culprits would be arrested very soon and investigation was on.
