Women and Child Development Department launched Action Month against Child Labour

The Women and Child Development Department of the Government of Assam in collaboration with the Bachpan Bachao Movement launched the Action Month against Child Labour from June 1 to June 30 across the State.

DOOMDOOMA: The Women and Child Development Department of the Government of Assam in collaboration with the Bachpan Bachao Movement launched the Action Month against Child Labour from June 1 to June 30 across the State. The objective of this action month is to take appropriate measures for the rescue of child labourers and rehabilitation of such children. An important meeting was convened on Friday at the conference hall of Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office under the chairmanship of DC Swapnil Pal to discuss in detail how to implement this month of action against child labour in the district. The DC directed the concerned departments to conduct intensive raids in various factories, business establishments, hotels and garages in the district to rescue child labourers. He also directed the concerned departments to take necessary steps for the rehabilitation of the rescued children. The meeting was attended by District Child Protection Officer-in-Charge Bedanta Kalita, Child Protection Committee President Uttam Dowarah, other officials of Police Department and Child Protection Department along with representatives of Child Line.
