Workshop held on North Eastern Council's Golden Jubilee

A day-long workshop on the 'Role of North Eastern Council (NEC) in the Development of North East India and the way forward' was organized by the Higher Education Department

 GUWAHATI: A day-long workshop on the 'Role of North Eastern Council (NEC) in the Development of North East India and the way forward' was organized by the Higher Education Department, Government of Assam in association with Cotton University at the Varsity premises on Friday.

It was organized as a part of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the North Eastern Council (NEC) that was officially kicked off on the 18th of December, 2022 at Shillong, and was graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Anjan Gogol, Retd Air Marshal and member of NEC, graced the event as the guest of honour. He highlighted the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) of the northeast region, where he also stressed the necessity to work towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Secretary of NEC, Moses Chalal, highlighted the works and achievements of the NEC in the northeastern region in general and Assam in particular and the future goals.

The inaugural event was followed by a panel discussion which was moderated by Dr Mousumi Borah, Dean, Academics, Arya Vidyapeeth College; Rouhin Deb, Chief Economist, Chief Minister's Secretariat, Government of Assam, Prof Kuldeep Baishya, Faculty of Marketing, IIT, Guwahati and Prof Joydeep Baruah, School of Social Sciences with KKHSOU as resource persons, a press release said.
