TINSUKIA: The three-day Theatre in Education (TIE) workshop on acting for creativity conducted by National School of Drama (NSD) of Tripura wing at Digboi College concluded on Sunday.
Altogether 42 students were trained with special care in the acting skills, developing their personality, intercultural learning analysis, problem solving, self-awareness, creative thinking, create fearless atmosphere and encouraging the participants. The programme began with introduction by Dr Dip Saikia, Principal of Digboi College, followed by his inaugural speech. Dr. Jayanta Handique, IQAC coordinator, Rajib Rudra Tariang, coordinator of the workshop, Dr. Sangeeta Saikia Baruah, Jitu Bora, Jitu Borah, Dipesh Mondal, Sewali Saikia Hazarika and Samrat Bharatwaj, member of the workshop committee was also present.
The three-day sessions were carried out by Sonit Jyoti Saikia and Dipika Dutta Mukherjee as resource persons who are the alumni of National School of Drama TIE Wing, Tripura. It was an interesting session where students could learn the basics of the drama and its different types. The duo discussed about the creative challenge, emotional expression, improvisation, elements in the drama, purpose of the drama, emotional thoughts and expressions, details about forum theatre, differences between stage play and forum, problem solving situations, story whoosh, and about the scopes of further courses in drama in the theatre in education.
