Workshop on capacity building held in Jamugurihat

JAMUGURIHAT: The Pakke Wildlife Sanctuary & Tiger Reserve Division in collaboration with Nature Conservation Foundation (NCF) organised a three-day training-cum- workshop from Friday on "Capacity Building Training on Research Methods/Techniques in Hornbill Monitoring" for frontline staff of the division at Seijosa Pakke Tiger Reserve, on the northern part of Jamugurihat.

The Forest Department in collaboration with NCF along with local nest protectors have been monitoring hornbill for the last two decades in and around the Pakke Wildlife Sanctuary & Tiger Reserve, which has resulted in the successful fledging of hornbill chick from 2012-2022. This is the first of its kind that a training cum workshop is being conducted especially for staff of the Pakke Wildlife Sanctuary & Tiger Reserve. Around 30 participants from all three ranges of the division respectively Seijosa, Tippi and Rilloh had attended the workshop.

Through, this workshop frontline staff of Pakke Wildlife Sanctuary & Tiger Reserve stationed at remote anti poaching camp deep inside the forest will be equipped with technical knowhow, for better monitoring of majestic bird Hornbill, as informed by Satyaprakash Singh, IFS, DFO of Pakke Wildlife Sanctuary & Tiger Reserve.
