Workshop on correct speaking and writing of Assamese language held in Lakhimpur

A lecture event-cum-workshop on “Speak and write the Assamese language in correct form” was held successfully in Lakhimpur on Tuesday.

LAKHIMPUR: A lecture event-cum-workshop on “Speak and write the Assamese language in correct form” was held successfully in Lakhimpur on Tuesday. The day-long programme was organized by Kadam Sakha Xahitya Xabha in association with Kadam High School in the school auditorium in fond memory of Deben Dutta, the retired Vice-Principal of the Cotton College-active social worker, who expired recently.

The agenda of the programme started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Ramnath Hazarika, the president of the Kakoi High School Management and Development Committee, and the presentation of Axam Xahitya Xabha title song “Chira senehi mor bhasa janani” jointly performed by the students and teachers of the school. The programme was chaired by Lakhimpur Jila Xahitya Xabha president Umananda Baruah while the objective was explained by Bharat Rajkhowa, the president of the Kadam Sakha Xahitya Xabha. He said that the event was dedicated to Deben Dutta to rever him as he had a unique excellence in speaking and writing the Assamese language in its correct form. “A community can exist only when its mother language stays alive. So, we must protect and enhance our mother language and it should be our primary duty. History shows that for the existence of any community, its literature must exist.
