Workshop on Nritya Yoga and Indian classical dance begins at Tinsukia College

TINSUKIA: A five-day workshop on Nritya Yoga and Indian classical dance (Bharatnatym) began at the library conference room of Tinsukia College recently in the presence of danseuses, cultural activists, students and teachers.

It was organized by Beautician and Wellness Centre under IQAC of Tinsukia College. In her speech as chief guest, singer and danseuse Maitreye Baruah Bhowmik of Dibrugarh said, “Classical learning is a fundamental feature of music and when classical dance is integrated with yoga it gives more teeth to mind and body. Without classical base one can’t be a good singer in future.”

Others who spoke on the occasion were Xattriya dance exponent Diganta Borah and renowned Bharatnatym dancer Seuj Sandhya. All of them will act as resource persons in the workshop. Earlier, the programme was inaugurated by Rana Kumar Changmai, principal of the college, while Dr Rishi Das, former vice principal lit the ceremonial lamp beneath the statue of Nataraj. The event was anchored by Rasmita Borkotoky of Tinsukia College.
