SIVASAGAR: A two-day state-level workshop on ‘Research Methodology’ was held on April 4 and April 5, at the initiative of the Assamese Departments of Gargaon College in Sivasagar and Dergaon Kamal Dowerah College, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cells of both the colleges.
The participants and the audience were warmly welcomed by renowned academician Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, Principal, Gargaon College. Dr Mahanta explored the background of the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP 2020) in his welcome address, as well as the value and relevance of the research workshop in this context.
Inaugurating the workshop, Dr Ranjit Kumar Bordoloi, Principal, Dergaon Kamal Dowerah College, said that such workshops could provide undergraduate students with research ideas and motivation. Dr Chandicharan Goswami, Head, Department of Assamese, DKD College, appreciated the joint efforts of both the departments of the two colleges for creating the platform to discuss the ideas of techniques and methodologies in research.
The resource person for the first day of the workshop, Dr Pallavi Borah, Assistant Professor, Department of Folklore Research, Gauhati University provided an elaborate discussion on the necessity for information acquisition through field study for project preparation, the numerous stages of field studies, and the various aspects of a project writing process. Nilakhi Chetia, Head and Associate Professor of the Assamese Department at Gargaon College, presented the welcome address on the second day of the programme.
