Workshop on scientific cultivation of areca nut

A day-long workshop on the scientific way of areca nut (betelnut) and black pepper cultivation was held at the premises of Sri Radhakrishna Mandir community hall at Bandarguri in the Udalguri district on Wednesday.

TANGLA: A day-long workshop on the scientific way of areca nut (betelnut) and black pepper cultivation was held at the premises of Sri Radhakrishna Mandir community hall at Bandarguri in the Udalguri district on Wednesday.

Agriculture Scientist Dr Saran Kumar Rijal from Siliguri of North Bengal briefed the villagers on sapling development, plantation methods and protection of arecanut from various plant diseases. He also imbibed in them the essence to cultivate high yielding arecanut for which the climate of Assam is most favourable after Karnataka. The workshop was organized by the Sri Sri Radhakrishna Mandir management committee of Bandarguri which was attended by a large number of farmers of the region.
