World Aids Day: Health check-up camp organized in Lakhimpur

A health check-up camp and quiz competition were organized on Friday at Borbil village of Lakhimpur on the occasion of World Aids Day.

LAKHIMPUR: A health check-up camp and quiz competition were organized on Friday at Borbil village of Lakhimpur on the occasion of World Aids Day. The health check-up camp and quiz competition were inaugurated by Dr Lohit Hazarika, Principal of Lakhimpur Commerce College who delivered a fruitful speech on topic of AIDS. He emphasized on the awareness of the common people to eradicate the disease of AIDS. He also calls for active participation of government officials in backward villages for educating the people regarding AIDS. Dr. Dibya Probin Dihingia, Medical Officer of Boginodi Public Health Centre (PHC) and his staff attended the health check-up camp and more than 100 patients attended the health check-up camp for examining different diseases. Students were also given counseling on the prevention of AIDS by the visiting health team as part of the health camp. Free medicines were distributed among village people, students and college staff and dressings of injuries, blood tests were also done in that health camp.

The health check-up camp and quiz competition were organized by the Red Ribbon Club, Extension Services and Outreach Programme Cell of Lakhimpur Commerce College in collaboration with Health Department, Lakhimpur District, Assam. The whole programme was coordinated by Dr. Dadul Rajkonwar, Programme Officer of Red Ribbon Club, Prof. Aban Chandra Barman and Professor Achyut Kumar Gogoi, Joint Coordinator of Extension Services and Outreach Programme Cell of Lakhimpur Commerce College.
