World Heart Day observed in Tinsukia

World Heart Day was observed by the Tinsukia chapter of Heart Care Society of Assam (HCSA) on Sunday at Tinsukia in association with Lions Club of Tinsukia Smart City and National Chamber of Commerce Tinsukia in day-long events.

TINSUKIA: World Heart Day was observed by the Tinsukia chapter of Heart Care Society of Assam (HCSA) on Sunday at Tinsukia in association with Lions Club of Tinsukia Smart City and National Chamber of Commerce Tinsukia in day-long events.

The programme began with the lighting of ceremonial lamps followed by welcome address by Dr Ramesh Agarwal, president of Tinsukia chapter of HCSA. Renowned cardiologist Dr Nirmal Kanti Bhattacharjee, who is also the president of HCSA, delivered speech on the theme of World Heart Day ‘Use Heart, Know Heart’. He said though September 29 is being observed as World Heart Day, the HCSA carries out the activities across Assam in September to October to raise awareness about heart disease, preventive measures and its management.

Attended by a large number of people of different ages, Dr Bhattacharjee dwelt on length all domains of healthy heart by using power-point presentation in lucid language. The programme was moderated by Sumona Choudhury under the supervision of project chairman Gupal Sahu. The event also witnessed free heart check-up camp where more than 100 people were examined.
