DOOMDOOMA: State Water Resources minister Pijush Hazarika visited the erosion affected No.3 Kordoiguri and Gariating under Doomdooma revenue circle on Monday where Anantanala has been causing heavy erosion over the years and no remedial measures have been taken to resist it by the government so far. Pijush Hazarika, while taking stock of the situation there, discussed the matter with the engineers and the officials of water resource department for a permanent solution to the problem. Anantanala - a water channel turned one of the tributaries of the River Brahmaputra - caused immense miseries to the people by eroding away a sizeable area of land mass in the recent past.

The minister was also accompanied by Union Minister Rameswar Teli, MP Lakhimpur Parliamentary Constituency Pradan Baruah and local MLA Rupesh Goala. The minister ordered the departmental engineers to expedite the ongoing repairing works so that it could be completed before the onslaught of the ensuing monsoon.
