Young writer and UBPO member Hemen Boro dies of COVID in Guwahati

A young writer and assistant literary secretary of United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO), Hemen Boro of No. 1 Kekhohati of Rangia died due to COVID-19 infection on Monday morning at around 8.30 am at a private hospital in Guwahati.

KOKRAJHAR: A young writer and assistant literary secretary of United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO), Hemen Boro of No. 1 Kekhohati of Rangia died due to COVID-19 infection on Monday morning at around 8.30 am at a private hospital in Guwahati. He was 39 and leaves behind his mother Binapani Boro, three brothers and three sisters.

Sources said that Hemen Boro was first admitted at Rangia Civil Hospital after he suffered symptoms of COVID but was referred to Guwahati on May 12 where he died while undergoing treatment. His body was cremated in Guwahati.

The president of UBPO, Manuranjan Basumatary expressed shock over his sudden demise and said that the organization had lost a young, energetic and promising leader. He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members.

On the other hand, former general secretary of UBPO and now EM of Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC), Anil Basumatary and group administrator of 'Khontai Bibar' of Rangia, Dipen Boro also expressed deep sorrow over Boro's untimely demise. Boro was an adviser of the group. He wrote Jiuni Lwgw, a translated book of Dr. Partha Chattapadhay.
