Youth are backbone of society, their role in nation building is unique: Governor

MORIGAON: Governor Gulab Chand Kataria attended the closing ceremony of the Youth Conference 2.0 at Mayang Regional College, Morigaon district on Saturday.

The event was organized by Mayang Regional College in collaboration with Assam Skill Development Mission-North East Skill Centre, Shiksha Shiksha Parishad Foundation, Assam and NSS Cell of Gauhati University with the theme ‘Skill Development of Youth for Building Self-Reliant India’.

Speaking at the function, the Governor said, “India is a country famous for its huge number of youth and it is our responsibility to skill its youth.” He said change creates new opportunities and the new generation has the ability to bring about massive change for the welfare of the country. The Governor urged the youth to move forward with a specific goal of creating employment instead of government-job oriented mentality. He said the youth are the backbone of a society and their role in nation building is unique. The Governor stressed enhancing the skills of the youth and making them partners in building the country.

He told the students that this is the right time to identify their skills and make good use of every moment. He said India would soon become a world leader if everyone in the society contributed according to their responsibilities in building the country. He urged the youth to continue their efforts for that.

The programme was attended by Assam Skill Development Mission Director Ankur Jain, District Development Commissioner Devayani Chowdhury, International Secretary General of Teachers’ Education Council Foundation, Professor Neelima Bhagwati, Principal of Mayang Regional College, Dr Mahananda Bora, NSS Cell of Gauhati University, Dr Ranjan Kumar Kakati and officials of the district administration, teachers and students.
