HAFLONG: The Zeme Students' Union in its press release maintained that it was very disheartening to learn about the recent incident of alleged sexual harassment by Pondesh Sengyung aka Jipseng Sengyung that took place in the district Dima Hasao. The district also known as Switzerland of Northeast has been a safe haven for women since time immemorial and to be painted black by such social evils was uncalled-for.

It was quite unfortunate that, Assam was ranked top in a crime against women in the year 2020. Such unprecedented contagion should not be allowed to penetrate in our district. Instances of sexual harassment and molestation were now taking momentum, and these needs to stop. Several similar acts have been recurring lately but go unreported.

The ZSU (A) deeply appreciated Dimasa Mothers' Association for their stance. "We would also like to make a clarion call to the masses for their support in uprooting such anti-social elements. Only a courageous victim makes the difference, and our sister who was sadly a victim was able to gather courage to do so," they said. They wholeheartedly, encouraged and endorsed such bravehearts. Turning a blind eye towards evils and immoral act will only boldster further unfortunate incidents.
