Assam Police seized IMFL liquor made in Arunachal Pradesh in districts of Assam

The liquors were seized in Charaideo and Golaghat districts in a raid against influx of Arunachal liquor into Assam

Golaghat: Massive consignments of Arunachal Pradesh made foreign liquor was seized in Golaghat and Charaideo distrcts of Assam. The consignments were seized in a raid conducted under the aegis of Excise Intelligence Bureau. The raids were conducted following reports that there has been a constant influx of liquor made in Arunachal Pradesh into districts of Assam.

Acting on a tip-off, investigators of Charaideo, Sapekhati and Sibsagar excise circles intercepted a truck under the direction from Superintendent of Excise, Sibsagar.

The vehicle was carrying 900 cases of rum made in Arunachal Pradesh and detained the vehicle driver near Sepon Tiniali in Charaideo. "The vehicle driver will be produced t the CJM court of Sonari," an official stated.

Earlier, a vehicle carrying 260 cartons of India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) made in Arunachal Pradesh was detained by personnel of the Golaghat Sadar Excise Circle.

The revenue collection for October this year is reported to be around Rs 215 crore, which is the highest till date. According to Government data, revenue collection for October 2019 was Rs 123 crore.

Recently, on the directions of the Assam Excise department, many illegal factories, store houses and consignments of illegal Arunachal made liquor was seized on various occasions across the state. Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya hailed the department for the successful carrying out of the operation in Upper Assam.
