Due to its geographical proximity, the northeastern region could also witness a spillover effect due to Bangladesh's booming economy. This claim has been further solidified by India's junior foreign minister R K Ranjan Singh who said that the phenomenal economic growth in Bangladesh is helping boost development in India's northeast.

Ranjan Singh, while addressing a reception hosted on the occasion of Bangladesh's independence day at the country's High Commission in Delhi on March 28, has said that the economic progress, peace and stability in Bangladesh is not only securing the interest of the people of Bangladesh, but it is also playing an instrumental role in developing the North-eastern region of India.
