IIM Shillong Inks Pact With Nagaland Govt To Provide Better Education Facilities

SHILLONG: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked by Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong with the Nagaland government on Saturday.

The MoU is aimed at providing handy and higher quality of education to the students of Nagaland.

“This partnership between IIM Shillong and the Nagaland government marks a significant milestone in the advancement of higher education and skill development in the region. It is a testament to the commitment of both parties to collaborate and create a brighter future for the youth of Nagaland,” stated an IIM official.

Moreover, IIM Shillong will be utilizing its expertise in order to assist the Nagaland Govt in establishing a new spanking state-of-the-art engineering college.

The official went on to say that “By incorporating best practices and robust systems, the institute aims to help create a premier educational institution that meets the highest standards of excellence.”

Nagaland Higher Education Minister Temjen Imna Along expressed his satisfaction at the collaboration between the prestigious IIM Shillong and Nagaland govt, praising the expertise and inherent knowledge base of IIM Shillong.

Minister Along also said that the MoU with IIM Shillong is expected to revolutionize Nagaland’s higher education sector.

“The partnership aims to bring about positive changes in skilling, capacity building, and the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP),” he opined.

Along spoke highly of the National Education Policy 2020, describing it as ‘visionary’ and the best thing to have happened to the education system in India.

He shared his view that the NEP has been designed in a way that is sure to bring out the best in students, while providing them with a holistic and comprehensive education.

Member of the Board of Governors (BoG) at IIM Shillong, Atul Kulkarni, confirmed that the institute is committed to serving the needs of students from the North East region.

IIM Shillong’s flagship program remains the Post Graduate Program (PGP), but it also aims at encouraging students from the NE to peruse and get enrolled in various courses offered by the institute. IIM Shillong aims to attract more students from the different states of the region by making available more courses other than the PGP program, and provide them with higher quality of education and professional development.

While underlining the institute’s outreach efforts, IIM Shillong Director Prof. D P Goyal, acknowledged the immense responsibility of the institute towards higher education in the North East, stressing on the institute’s commitment in reaching out to students in all states in the region.
